Our Approach

At Laurel Path Doodles, we never compromise on health and temperament. Every dog in our breeding program is rigorously tested before being included, including OFA hip and elbow evaluations, ACVO and CERF eye exams, and DNA testing. Our dogs live in loving family homes, either with my family or with carefully chosen guardian homes, and each litter is born in my house where the puppies spend the first eight weeks of their lives. From days 3 to 18, puppies are introduced to early neurological stimulation with gentle, age-appropriate exercises that expose them to new sensations during a critical development window. As they grow, they are introduced to a wide range of sounds, from everyday household noises like a vacuum or hair dryer to different kinds of music and nature sounds, and we even use customized city sound recordings to help ease the transition to new homes. They experience many surfaces both indoors and outdoors, including rough, smooth, grassy, and even metal grates, and we keep adding new experiences whenever we can. We introduce an open crate around four weeks so it feels like a safe haven, and our dogs and cat are regularly around the puppies so they grow up with normal, healthy interactions. We specialize in micro and mini sizes because they offer a manageable size with big, trainable personalities, plus low-shedding, hypoallergenic coats and affectionate, playful companionship that fits many lifestyles. When families take a puppy home, we stay connected with a two-year health guarantee and support for as long as needed, and we are shameless about asking for pictures as our babies grow up.
